Role: Web Designer
I work full-time for Snohomish Conservation District (SCD), a special purpose district in Washington state that partners with farmers, forest landowners, urban residents, and community organizations to conserve natural resources through voluntary, non-regulatory programs.
When I joined SCD in 2019, I led the transition from a print publication to a web-based annual report. As the reports grew in scope, our team recognized an opportunity to improve both the storytelling and the user experience.
Research & Strategy
Using analytics from previous reports, we found that readers consistently dropped off as they scrolled through standalone program stories. Together, we restructured the report around three overarching narratives that better reflected the district’s mission and collective impact while reducing the amount of content staff needed to produce.
My Role
I translated this strategy into a streamlined web experience with a clear visual hierarchy, improved accessibility, and stronger narrative flow.
To close the report, I visualized our funding sources to demonstrate how the district brings in federal, state, and local investments to the community.
Outcome
The 2025 annual report gives stakeholders a concise, engaging view of the district’s impact while establishing a scalable framework for future reports.
